Sustainability
Xtratherm is committed to sustainability and responsibility, not just with products we sell but the materials and processes we use to manufacture them. We strive to minimise the energy and raw materials we use and reduce pollution and environmental damages. Our operations are fully accredited and assessed under the latest EN Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety standards by BREEAM and the
Code for Sustainable Homes.
Our range of products have been assessed under the BRE Environmental Profiles Methodology to achieve Green Guide rating of A+ or A giving independent certification of their low environmental impact, and achieving the highest score available under Credit 1 of BREEAM. BREEAM also awards credits for the responsible sourcing of materials under ISO 14001 from the insulation manufacturer and their immediate suppliers, Xtratherm has achieved ISO14001 and asked for this certification from our major suppliers (Please contact Xtratherm for further information).
It is probable that the Code for Sustainable Homes will also be updated to included responsible sourcing of materials in the future but at present includes credits for the Global Warming Potential of insulation products used on projects. The GWP relates to properties of the gaseous blowing agents used in the manufacture of foamed insulations. All of Xtratherm's products use pentane as the blowing agent and have a GWP<5, therefore achieve
the highest credit under the Code for Sustainable Homes.
